Dear Hearts,
The above quote from Deepak Chopra is so very true. We hear of this universal concept so often that it can become a bit trite, and we can miss its real meaning.
Simply stated it says, “In giving we receive.”

Our longtime friend and workshop assistant, Stef Swink and her partner North McKinnon have been given a major challenge to work through. Several weeks ago North was diagnosed with Maxillary Sinus Cancer. In simple terms, this is a malignant tumor of the sinus on the right side of his face. A very complex surgery lasting many hours was required to remove the cancer.
Following surgery the prognosis is good, however the surgical team found it necessary to remove North’s right eye as well as teeth, muscle, and bone on the right side of his face. Chemo and radiation therapies will be ongoing for some time. Needless to say, recovery will take a while, but we have every confidence that he will be back to normal within the year. The problem is he will not be able to work during that time.
When we find ourselves in dark places such as this we need light. If we have a strong faith we can provide much light for ourselves. If we have strong ties to family and friends they can provide much light. But sometimes that isn’t enough, we may need to reach out to a larger community for whatever spark of light they can offer.
