“The stories people tell have a way of taking care of them. If stories come to you, care for them; learn to give them away where they are needed. Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive.” BARRY LOPEZ, Crow And Weasel Book ‘O the Week
The Power of Personal “The exercises are fun and enlightening. I’ve found my childhood memories to be more full of color and vitality after following Maguire’s suggestions.” Dear Hearts, I have a love for stories and the sharing of stories. In our workshops we have found that the most powerful teaching and learning comes from participants sharing their stories. We hear stories of success and failure, loss and gain, joy and sorrow. Participants bravely share their stories of growing, healing and surviving through an array of diverse environments and circumstances. We all have stories that are rich with medicine that can work wonders to heal our wounds and set others on a path to a healing. The beauty of story teaching is that it never tells anyone what they must do, it only opens doorways through which they may pass when they are ready. The following is one such story . . . A Sandpiper to Bring You Joy She was six years old when I first met her on the beach near where I live. I drive to this beach, a distance of three or four miles, whenever the world begins to close in on me. She was building a sand castle or something and looked up, her eyes as blue as the sea. “Hello,” she said. Make it a great week.
