Kindness Week

Posted on November 11, 2008January 25, 2011 by Rick

Here Comes That Rainbow Again

The scene was a small roadside cafe,
The waitress was sweeping the floor.
Two truck drivers drinking their coffee.
And two Okie kids by the door.
“How much are them candies?” they asked her.
“How much have you got?” she replied.
“We’ve only a penny between us.”
“Them’s two for a penny,” she lied.

And the daylight grew heavy with thunder,
With the smell of the rain on the wind.
Ain’t it just like a human.
Here comes that rainbow again.

One truck driver called to the waitress,
After the kids went outside.
“Them candies ain’t two for a penny.”
“So what’s it to you?” she replied.
In silence they finished their coffee,
And got up and nodded goodbye.
She called: “Hey, you left too much money!”
“So what’s it to you?” they replied.

And the daylight was heavy with thunder,
With the smell of the rain on the wind.
Ain’t it just like a human.
Here comes that rainbow again.

Dear Hearts,

November 10 to 16 is World Kindness Week and we would like to remind you that even small acts of kindness and compassion contribute to the energy of peace, cooperation world and world harmony. Some acts of kindness, like the short list below require very little sacrifice:

  • Write a note of appreciation to your mail and newspaper carriers.
  • Compliment a stranger, with sincerity and a smile.
  • Give a lottery ticket to a stranger. Put change in the slots of a row of vending machines.
  • Put a quarter in a parking meter that has expired for the car that’s parked there.

For a longer list of kindness activities Inspiration Line has some great suggestions. Check it out!

On the other hand some acts of kindness require a willingness to make a great sacrifice in order to save another’s life. If you have about two and a half minutes have a look at this the video for an example of what I mean.

Make it a week of kindness.

Love and blessings,

Rick and Patricia
