“The moment your attention turns to the Now, you feel a presence, a stillness, a peace. You no longer depend on the future for fulfillment and satisfaction – you don’t look to it for salvation.” ~Eckhart Tolle
“It is an easy task to control the body, for instance, you can sit still and do nothing physically for a few moments without any problems. For many people it is almost impossible to think of nothing even for a few seconds. Gaining control of the mind and thereby harnessing its power is a more challenging achievement by far.” ~ Dr. Jason Han

Dear Hearts,
Here’s a California classic:
BUMPER STICKER BOLDLY DECLARES:
MEDITATION IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK!
Truer words were never spoken. We hear a lot about being in the “present moment”, accessing the “power of now”, “finding our center”, etc. That is all well and wonderful, and it is relatively simple for those who have been practicing Zen meditation for 30 years. But for most of us, here’s how it goes:
We sit and get comfortable, hands on knees, palms facing upward, thumb and index finger gently touching in a sacred mudra, relax the shoulders, deep breath, release, breathe once again, and release, now bring the mind to quiet stillness.. peace… ah yes, deeper now…deeper pe… “Wonder if I locked the car?”…”Can’t remember”…”What should I wear to the party tonight?”…”OMG! I hope Jane doesn’t show up!”…”Rent’s due tomorrow.”…”How am I going to manage that?”…”Maybe I’ll win the lotto, boy that’d sure help!”… and on and on it goes- monkey chatter.
So, how do you get the chattering monkeys to give you some peace of mind? One powerful way is to combine movement, music and affirmation; it occupies the mind in a positive way, and allows the body to move and sway, while the music gently escorts you into a place of peace, harmony and blisssssssss. Ahhhhhhhh…
Aussie Heal Your Life Teacher, Debbie Saggers, has created a DVD she calls Affirmotions, a practice that combines affirmation with body movement and music; we’ve had a chance to to try them out and are finding them delightfully peaceful and easy to use. She has a couple of really nice videos on her website, one on breathing and one on forgiveness, we think you will find them relaxing and healing …have a look
Make it a week of Affirmotional love.
Love and blessings,
Rick and Patricia
