“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
~ Jesus (from the Bible, Matthew 19:24)

“The Needle” was the name of a gate in a wall surrounding a city in biblical times. The “eye” was a much smaller doorway in the larger gate. If the main gate (The Needle) was closed, the eye would open to allow highly restricted passage for greater security. In order for a Camel to pass through the Eye of the Needle it must: 1. Stand in line (only one could pass at a time); 2. Be relieved of it’s burdens (have it’s baggage removed); and 3. Go through on it’s knees (easy for a camel).

Knowing that Jesus spoke in parables here is a possible interpretation – In order for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God (which Jesus said was “within” (Luke 17:21) a rich man must: 1. Be patient (trust the process); 2. Unburden himself of his baggage (limiting beliefs about himself and money); 3. Be in a symbolic posture of reverence (grateful humility).

Dear Hearts,

We are constantly responding to life and its situations through limiting belief systems we don’t even know we have. Among the most damaging of these beliefs are those about money, wealth and prosperity. Here are just a few:

• “It takes money to make money.” NOT! There are loads of stories about people who started from deep debt and rose to great wealth. It takes ideas and perseverance, not money, to make money.

• “People resent rich people.” NOPE! If you think about it you’ll be able to come up with rich people you respect and revere. If a rich person is resented, it is their attitude that is resented, not their money.

• “Money is the root of all evil.” MISQUOTE! The bible (Timothy 6:10) says, “The love of money is the root of all evil.” and when taken in context probably means “The lust for money is the root of all evil.” It’s the lust that gets us into trouble, not the money.

• “It takes hard work to make money.” WRONG! It takes belief in yourself and smart work to make money.

• “Money isn’t spiritual.” WAY OFF! Think of all the deeply spiritual things you could do to improve the quality of peoples lives and the environment if you were very, very rich.

Again, these are just a few of the erroneous beliefs we harbor where money is concerned. If you are not as prosperous as you would like to be you may be unconsciously holding yourself back because of some of these limiting beliefs.

If you want money, here’s how to get it:

• Know you deserve to have it.

• Identify and reduce the number of limiting beliefs you have about money.

• Increase the number of positive beliefs you hold.

• Take the necessary action to make the money.
