his is a most wonderful time of year. It is a time when many of us focus on peace, love and sharing. It is a time of celebration for many people of diverse beliefs:
African Americans celebrate Kwanzaa recognizing the traditional African values of family, community responsibility, commerce, and self-improvement, December 26- Jan. 1
Buddhists celebrate Siddartha Gautan’s (Buddha) attainment of enlightenment, Dec. 8
Christians are celebrating the birth of Christ the Messiah, Dec. 25
Jews celebrate Hanukkah paying tribute to the recapturing of the Temple from the Syrians, Dec 26.
Taoists celebrate the winter solstice and the coming of light, Dec. 21
Atheists and Agnostics celebrate the joy of the season and their right to hold their own beliefs.
We know there are many other traditions, cultures and groups celebrating the season in your own way, we honor you all.
Most of these traditions include the hanging of lights, singing, dancing, feasting, and sharing of gifts. It is indeed a time of gathering together in joy and appreciation of friends, family and community. This is the time of year that ideas of peace, harmony and cooperation are most at the front of our minds, and that is good, as it helps to foster peace in the world.
Book O’ the Week
In this beautiful, deeply moving poem, Maya Angelou inspires us to embrace the peace and promise of Christmas, so that hope and love can once again light up our holidays and the world.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Dear Hearts,
Patricia and I hold a vision of world peace. We actually see in our mind’s eye all of the Earth at peace. We see harmony, compassion, understanding, and tolerance among all peoples and across all social, economic, religious, cultural, and national traditions. We would consider it a wonderful gift to us if you would take just a tiny moment some time between now and the first of January to hold that vision with us. We believe that if enough of us hold a vision of peace, that it will actually manifest. The year 2009 can to be a very special year of healing for our planet and we will all play a part in that healing.
May your Holiday Season be bright, happy and beautiful, filled with friends and family, and indeed, all the love your heart can hold. And may your heart be open so the love can flow through you to touch the hearts of everyone you encounter.
We know that your new year holds within all the dreams that you hold dear. If you can dream it, it is already there and waiting for you. Go forth and claim it.
Happy Holidays! Enjoy them immensely, in whatever way most honors you, and your beliefs and traditions.
We love you all,
Rick and Patricia
Namaste
