We all have a constant stream of thoughts going through our minds. Often the thoughts are about what we don’t like about our life, and most of the time we’re not even truly conscious of these thoughts, yet they are creating our future experiences! Consciously practicing affirmations is a way to re-train your mind to think differently and to focus on what you want. As we begin 2011, pay attention to your thoughts! Are they the ones you want to create your future?
Affirmations are positive, present tense and personal. For example, if you aren’t happy with the job that you have, you could create an affirmation like this:
I am working in a career that I love, with wonderful co-workers and an excellent salary.
You can create positive affirmations for any area of your life you want to improve, whether finances, health, career, relationships or self-esteem.
There are 8 principles. The playful images of “ordering from the cosmic kitchen” and the Cosmic Chef are used to remind you to have fun with this process!

Decide what you want.
Get a notebook, journal, or just a piece of paper and start writing down what you want: a wonderful relationship, better health, more slender body, increased prosperity, greater self-acceptance, a new job, etc. -
Make sure your affirmations are positive, present tense, and personal.
Use words like “I have… I receive…I am…” -
Include words that convey positive, energetic feelings.
“It’s fantastic that… I am delighted to…….I am so happy and excited that….”
The Universe responds to your FEELINGS along with your words. -
Let go of your timeline and trust the timing for delivery of your cosmic orders.
You may think you’re ready for that romantic relationship, but the Universe knows that your perfect partner has some more development to go through before you meet. So be patient! Trust the process. -
Let the Cosmic Chef decide HOW your affirmations will be fulfilled.
When you set a goal, you create a list of tasks to get you to the goal. In contrast, with affirmations, you say and feel them with faith and then let them go. Often your order will be fulfilled in ways you could not have imagined! -
Allow your Inner Wisdom to guide you in the right balance between action and allowing.
There are times when you can just say your affirmations and what you want will manifest with no effort on your part. At other times, there will be some action by you needed. Let your Inner Wisdom guide you. -
Believe that you deserve a wonderful life.
This one may require some affirmations by itself! Too often, people carry feelings of “not deserving” because that’s what they were taught in childhood. Be willing to believe that you deserve a wonderful life! -
Feel gratitude to the Universe and the Cosmic Chef for fulfilling your orders in the most miraculous way!
Why do affirmations work?
Affirmations work because your thoughts are not contained in that physical structure we call the brain. We are all connected (yes, all) in Divine Mind, Unlimited Potential, God, whatever you want to call It. Your thoughts, whether they are positive or negative, are an energy that connects to the universal consciousness, the Cosmic Kitchen and Chef, and the Law of Attraction that brings your orders to you. A simple example: have you ever thought of a friend you haven’t seen in a while and within a few days your friend either calls you unexpectedly or you see each other at the grocery store? You used an affirmation- thinking about your friend- without even realizing it. Affirmations are energized even more with positive feelings, so practice FEELING your affirmations as though they are already a reality!
